Twisted Together:A Peaceful Calm

After the excitement of our first look I started to become more aware of the beauty around us.  Our wedding was arguably the most beautiful day of summer 2010 in Seattle.  The sun was out and the sky was cloudless.  Before the events got started Mr P and I were able to take it all in and center ourselves, with a walk through our Church.

Outside, statues of the Holy Family find shade under the arbor.

As we walked back through the church we noticed all the details.  Paper Lantern Pew decorations lined the aisle,

bright flowers flanked the alter,

… and the Lectionary was ready to go, sitting atop the Alter.

I made a quick stop in the chapel for a quick prayer of thanksgiving…

and lit a candle in prayer.

I can’t tell you how special it was to be with my soon-to-be husband in God’s house before our wedding. The faith significance of our wedding was so tangible and it stayed at the forefront of my mind throughout the ceremony. However, the calm after our first look lasted for our short walk through the church.  As we exited the sanctuary and entered the narthex we were greeted with sounds of friends and family arriving for the ceremony.  Normally this is where the bride runs and hides.  Mr Pretzel and I had something else in mind.

Coming up: A reverse receiving line of sorts.
